Department of Botany established in the year 2008 with the efforts of Hon'ble Bhavnatai Gawali, Member of Parliament & President, Mahila Utkarsha Pratishthan, Risod. Botany department of Late Pundalikrao Gawali Arts and Science Mahavidyalaya is running academic programs at UG level with the support of three teachers. The majority of the students are backward class. There is one laboratory in the Department. The laboratory is equipped with modern instruments purchased out of grants provided by Management. The department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, museum specimens, slides, models, herbarium which help the students in learning. The botanical excursion are organized in view to study the wild plant diversity, forest ecosystem and to inculcate the research knowledge to the students by visiting University, Industry and other Colleges. Department also run certificate course in Seed Pathology for training as well as employment purpose.

 To create interest among the student in the field of life sciences generaly and Botany.  To create knowledge and understanding to explore concepts and develop skills in the field.  To use scientific language appropriately during communicating ideas both orally and in writing.  To encourage students for post gradation studies.

 Regular botanical study tours to familiarize the students with different plant species in their natural environment  Regular field visits to study the flora in their natural habitat  Eco Club – An organization to co-ordinate the eco-friendly conservation related activities  Regular skill based hands on training workshops  Students centric participative mode of learning  The students of the department have excelled in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities  Maintaining a very good teacher-students relationship.  Holding departmental meetings of prospective plans for progress of department.  Taking additional class as per student demand and requirement.  Contribution of faculty for overall development of the students
